What is a microbiologist?
Microbiologists work with living things on a microscopic level. They investigate super tiny organisms, the kind you could never see with your eyes alone, such as bacteria, algae and fungi. Their goal is to understand how microorganisms grow and behave. They may also research the effects of disease on their tiny subjects and whether or not medicines can make them better.

How much education do you need?
Most microbiologist careers require a master’s degree or Ph.D., M.D. or J.D. (law degree).
