Math Careers: Accountant Careers

One of the most mathematical math careers, accountant jobs are perfect for people who love working with money.

How do you use math as an accountant?

“I use it every day, whether preparing and reviewing financial statements, preparing and reviewing practice statistics, creating a pro forma for future plans based upon other practices, the past and assumptions that are made, or preparing and reviewing tax issues.”

-Russell Wilson, Accountant

What is an accountant?

You spent too much money on iTunes and now you don’t have enough to hit the mall with friends. You could ask your parents for more money — or you could track your expenses so you don‘t do that again. Accountants help people and companies understand how their money is spent, where they’re making the most, how to save more and how to pay their bills. Of course you may not have to worry about bills yet, except maybe the ones from mom or dad.

How much education do you need?

Most accountant careers require a bachelor’s degree.
